In the heart of Den Haag, Studio Vahid reimagined a 1960s townhouse into a serene, contemporary home defined by material harmony and understated geometry. The renovation balanced structure and softness, transforming a traditional layout into fluid spaces connected through tone, proportion, and light. Natural oak, limestone, and brass form the tactile foundation of the design. The kitchen, with its sculptural travertine island and oak cabinetry, is both functional and quiet—crafted with precise detailing that feels effortless. Matte surfaces, soft lighting, and pale floors create an atmosphere of timeless simplicity, while subtle contrasts in texture lend the rooms a sense of depth and calm. The living and dining rooms flow seamlessly into one another, unified by a restrained palette of stone, wood, and ivory tones. Contemporary artworks bring a quiet energy to the space—deep blues and abstract gestures that balance the serenity of the architecture. Every piece of furniture was chosen for its honesty of form and material, allowing the interior to feel refined yet approachable. Large framed glass doors divide spaces without interrupting light, establishing a rhythm between openness and privacy. The bathrooms echo the same sensibility—travertine basins, brushed metal fittings, and warm oak millwork compose spaces that feel intimate and tactile. Upstairs, the private areas are designed as calm sanctuaries. A custom dressing room with curved cabinetry and soft lighting brings a sculptural note to the daily routine, while artwork and natural textures add quiet personality. Even the terrace follows the same philosophy—minimal and open, furnished with simple forms in deep green that connect the home to the surrounding trees. Throughout House No. 64, Studio Vahid’s design language is clear: a devotion to craftsmanship, proportion, and atmosphere. The result is a home that embodies modern warmth—subtle, precise, and deeply comfortable.
